Henry Selick’s CORALINE.

So many little hands…

Tony worked at Laika studios on their debut feature, Coraline. Tony started in the puppet department, casting resin character maquettes and casting and seeming and painting silicone puppet parts.

He shifted his skills to the model shop, where he sculpted and fabricated a variety of moving props and “characters” in the story, like bug furniture and animatable plants in the magic garden.

Paranorman

On the film Paranorman, my job in the puppet department took on a bit of a different role as animators were needed to work late into the night, sometimes needing assistance with broken or torn puppets mid-shot. I was their go-to after hours one-man puppet hospital ER.

Bone Dry

Eels, Bone Dry stop-motion music video

On the Eels music video Bone Dry, Tony had the role of co-producer, art director and puppet fabrication lead. He managed a small crew of artists who had the task of transforming the band into skeleton puppets, while keeping each band members in-real-life personality and infusing it into the puppets. Everyone on his crew had the chance to do a little bit of everything as he oversaw and finalized each puppet, from sculpting, mold making and casting the puppets to be animated by some of the best in the business.
